Twitter is fast becoming the place that marketers are targeting in order to drive their tangible business goals. Goals that include sales, lead generation and generating traffic for their website.
Twitter has taken full advantage of this and in the recent past, especially after their IPO, has continuously enhanced their advertisement platform. They have introduced new targeting options, creative ad units and measurement tools. These are designed to help their client’s “direct response” marketing goals.
The Website Card
Last week Twitter introduced another feature to push advertising, which they call the Website Card.
This new option allows marketers to seamlessly place website content in a Tweet, thus driving traffic to whichever page of their site they want e.g. a blog post that they want to promote or a product that’s on a special offer.
The website card has been rolled out for the masses following rigorous pre-launch tests.
Advantage of Using the Card
The advantage here is that the Website Card lets users find attention-grabbing content and allows marketers to generate a large volume of clicks as users will be able to see an image, related context and also a well-defined call to action before clicking.
With this new advertising option coupled with twitters bouquet of user targeting options based on interests, keywords or tailored audiences segments, advertisers can direct useful traffic from a genuine audience at precisely the right time.
The card can also be used by marketers together with Twitter’s conversion tracking to gauge the conversion cycle from a Tweet right till a registration or purchase etc. Pre-launch tests have shown that the Website Card significantly decreases the cost-per-click as compared to using an image and URL to direct traffic to the website.
To top it all off, the Website Card option is not that difficult to use. To create one all you need to do is to log in to the Cards Manager section of your Twitter Ads account and follow the instructions.
